At a glance
- No account required. We do not collect your name, phone number, email address, device identifiers, or location.
- Photos never leave your device. Import, downscaling, color selection, and pattern generation all run locally.
- No ads and no analytics. The app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, social login, or user profiling.
- Files leave only when you choose. Saving to Photos or sharing is initiated by you, and you choose the receiving app.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the Pickbean mobile application (Android package com.pickbean.pickbean; the iOS version will be covered once released), and to files produced through the app's export and share features.
Operator: 黄志鹏. Contact email: SelbyAI@outlook.com.
This policy explains how we handle your information and the choices available to you. By using the app, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.
2. What we do not collect
Pickbean is an offline, single-device tool. It has no account system and no server-side database. We do not collect, request, or upload:
- Your name, phone number, email address, mailing address, account credentials, or government ID;
- Device identifiers such as IMEI, Android ID, IDFA, or OAID;
- Precise or approximate location, contacts, SMS, or call logs;
- Microphone audio, camera frames, or clipboard contents;
- Usage analytics, behavioral events, crash logs, or advertising identifiers.
The app contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, social login, or user-profiling features.
3. Permissions and their purposes
The app requests system permissions only when you trigger the relevant feature. You may deny a request; only that feature will be unavailable. You can revoke permissions at any time in system settings.
| Permission / capability | When it is used | Purpose | If you deny |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo library / photo selection | When you tap “Choose from Gallery” or “Reference Image” | To select an image for conversion or as a drawing reference | You cannot import images; other features still work |
| Save images to Photos | When you tap “Save to Photos” | To write the exported PNG blueprint to your photo library | You cannot save to Photos; sharing still works |
| Storage write (Android 9 and below only) | When saving an exported image | To write to the photo album directory | You cannot save to Photos |
| Network | Not requested (the release build does not declare the INTERNET permission) | None | — |
| Camera / microphone / location / contacts | Not requested | None | — |
On Android 13 and later, the app uses the system photo picker, so it does not receive access to your entire photo library. On iOS, the system photo picker/library authorization gives the app access only to the photos you select. The iOS usage descriptions are “Select a photo to create a bead pattern” and “Save exported bead patterns to your photo library.”
4. How images and patterns are processed
Import and generation
The photo you select is handed to the app by the system picker. The app decodes, resizes, performs edge-weighted downscaling, quantizes colors, and generates the pattern entirely on your device, without any network connection.
Source image copy
So that you can adjust the size, color count, or noise reduction and regenerate later, the app keeps a copy of the imported source image in its private app directory. This copy is not added to your photo library and is not uploaded automatically.
Pattern data
Pixel indices, brand, and import parameters are stored in a .pickbean project file in the app's private directory. The app does not write this data to public storage unless you explicitly export or share it.
Export
PNG/ZIP files are first generated in the system cache directory. Saving to Photos writes through the system media library; sharing hands the file to the app you select in the system share sheet.
We cannot access your photo library, other apps, or cloud accounts.
5. Sharing and third parties
The app does not transmit data to our servers, and we do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.
Files leave the app only when you choose to share or export them. The receiving app (WeChat, QQ, email, cloud storage, etc.) processes the file under its own privacy policy, so please review that policy before sharing.
Open-source components
The app uses the following open-source components. They run locally and contain no advertising, analytics, or tracking functionality: image_picker, image, share_plus, gal, path_provider, archive, and flutter_riverpod.
6. Network and offline use
The release build does not declare the INTERNET permission. The app has no server, no account, and no cloud sync, and it does not connect in the background or upload diagnostic data.
When you use the system share sheet or save to Photos, those operations are performed by the operating system and do not change the fact that the app itself does not access the network.
7. Retention and deletion
- Retention: Patterns, source image copies, and settings in the app's private directory remain on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app.
- Deleting a pattern: You can delete a pattern from the project list; the corresponding
.pickbeanproject file is removed. - Uninstalling: Uninstalling the app deletes patterns and source image copies in its private directory. Files you saved to Photos or shared elsewhere are not affected and must be deleted by you.
- System backup: Your operating system or device manufacturer's backup feature may back up app data according to your settings. This is outside the app's control; you can disable backup in system settings.
If you have questions about deletion, please contact us using the details at the end of this policy.
8. Children's privacy
Pickbean is intended for general craft hobbyists and is not directed specifically at children. Because the app does not collect personal information, we do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us at the email below and we will address it promptly.
9. Your rights
- Access and correction: Your patterns and source image copies are stored locally on your device and can be viewed or edited directly in the app.
- Deletion: Delete patterns from the project list, clear the app's data in system settings, or uninstall the app.
- Withdrawing permissions: Go to System Settings → Apps → Pickbean → Permissions and turn off photo or storage access.
- Contact: If you have questions about how your information is handled, email SelbyAI@outlook.com.
10. Security
Data is stored in the app's private directory, protected by the operating system sandbox. The app does not transmit data over a network, which reduces exposure during transfer.
Please keep your device and lock screen protected. No local storage can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure. If you discover a security issue, please contact us promptly.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy in response to feature changes or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes or store listing.
After a material change, continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy. If you do not agree, you can stop using the app and uninstall it.
